Article II. Litter Registration
Section A. Litter Registration Regulations
- Either the sire or the dam (or both) must be registered with TSSR permanent Adult Breeding Certificates of Registration for a Litter Application to be accepted.
- TSSR Shiloh males may be bred outside the registry. The TSSR highly recommends that the outside female has hip, heart and thyroid health testing, but is not mandatory. Outside breeding is at the discretion of the breeder.
- TSSR Shiloh females may breed outside the registry. Hip, Heart and DNA testing (of outside male) is REQUIRED by the TSSR for the progeny to be registered with the TSSR. The TSSR does recommend additional health testing on males chosen from outside registries, but is not required. Progeny resulting from this pairing and registered with the TSSR will be required to complete TSSR health testing to receive a breeding certificate of registration.
- TSSR requires that the non-TSSR registered dog or bitch submit the following information before the planned breeding takes place:
- A copy of their current registration certificate.
- Passing hip certification rated either as:
- OFA Fair, Good or Excellent.
- PennHIP where both hips must be scored not over 50 with no degenerative joint disease.
- OVC Normal.
- OFA Heart certification (outside males).
- Positive DNA parentage test results.
- Four pictures of the individual dog to be registered (taken while standing, views from front, rear, left side and right side).
- Certificate validating height and weight (recommended).
- A passing temperament test certificate or equivalent (recommended).
- A completed TSSR Faults and Virtues form (recommended).
- TSSR requires that the non-TSSR registered dog or bitch submit the following information before the planned breeding takes place:
- No litters will be registered from any dam less than 24 months of age or over the age of 7.5 years (90 mos).
- No litters will be registered out of any dog/bitch or breeder whose privileges have been suspended.
- Only litters owned or produced by breeders who have signed the TSSR Breeders Code of Ethics are eligible for TSSR registration papers.
- It is required that all progeny must have resulted from a breeding Shiloh Shepherd parents who both possess Permanent Adult Breeding Certificates or Permanent Adult Restricted Breeding Certificates.
- Dual registration of litters with any other registry is not allowed. Dual registration is allowed for showing purposes only.
NOTE:
TSSR Breeders are allowed to own Shiloh Shepherds that are not registered with the TSSR. It is no longer mandatory to have ALL your Shilohs registered with the TSSR. Those Shiloh Shepherds that ARE registered with the TSSR should NOT be dual registered, except for show purposes.
- Any exceptions to these regulations must be reviewed and agreed upon by a majority vote of TSSR Board of Directors members prior to the time of breeding.
Section B. Litter Registration Application
- The Litter Application for puppy registration must be filled out completely and
submitted to TSSR when puppies are between 49-70 days of age. The
application must include:- The exact number of puppies in the litter.
- Specific details on the litter regarding sex, color, coat, and any unusual markings.
- One picture of each individual puppy (taken within 10 days of birth).
- Two pictures of the entire litter with the dam (taken within 10 days of birth).
- Two pictures of the entire litter taken between 49-70 days of age.
- Litter Health Report.
- The recorded owner of the litter at birth will be issued a Blue Certificate of Registration for each puppy over 60 days of age as described on the litter application.
- The breeder must submit to TSSR a completed Litter Placement Form no later than 180 days from the birth of a litter.
- As of July 1, 2004, updated DNA with UC Davis must be on file with the TSSR registrar on any Shilohs (Sire and Dam) applying for litter application.
