Our Mission and Goals
The Shiloh Shepherd Registry was formed in 2002 by a number of long time breeders and fanciers devoted to the breed. In 2006 the TSSR incorporated. Our common goal is to ensure the continuation of our wonderful breed by encouraging and supporting the health testing used to determine which Shiloh Shepherds are allowed to be bred.
The TSSR feels we have sound registry standards. All TSSR Shilohs must have passing final hip certification, OFA certified clear hearts, DNA parentage certification and pass a temperament test before being bred. We also highly recommend OFA elbow certification, OFA thyroid certification, OFA DM testing, cTLI, and CERF testing. It is a lot of testing, but the health of our breed is well worth it.
All adult breeding dogs registered by the TSSR (pets are encouraged) need to have hip x-ray certificates on file, as well as a listing of faults and virtues. This information is used by TSSR breeders to not only monitor the health of our gene pool, but also to make the best possible breeding decisions. By careful selective breeding it is our ultimate goal to produce Shiloh Shepherds that are sound in body and spirit for generations to come.
